Weekly sessions take place at Minto Arena on Lancaster Drive in Ottawa. These sessions comprise one hour
of on-ice goalie instruction, and take place either evenings or weekends. All sessions have a maximum of
6 goalies on the ice at one time. Each group is categorized by age and skill level, with both boys and girls
welcome. The intensity is high, and the fun is infectious!
Week long goalie camps are offered during March Break and over the summer months. These full day week long
camps offer low goalie to coach ratio with up to three hours of ice per day. Along with two ice sessions per
day , each student partakes in a comprehensive off ice program with both mental and physical exercises. During
the classroom sessions students watch video of them taken from the previous ice session. All camp times and
dates will be posted in the schedule section of the web site.
AMHD works with minor hockey associations of all levels, from house league to AAA and includes all age levels.
We offer the flexibility for each association to address their goaltender development in unique and efficient
manners that work with their respective time, budget and ice constraints. Some associations choose to have AMHD
deliver a coaching clinic to all of the association’s coaches before or shortly after the season starts. Some
associations have dedicated sessions for individual teams and only work with a team’s two goalies at one time.
Other associations divide the goalies into small groups and set up bi-weekly or monthly mini-camps. Each set-up
is effective in delivering a season-long, ongoing development process that is educational for the goalies and the
coaches.
AMHD offers daytime on-ice goaltender training sessions at Minto Arena. These sessions can be any day of the week
(Monday-Friday) and flexible to meet your needs. We can work with up to 3 goalies at one time and each session can
be up to 2 hours long. Each session has the option to be video taped, with each student given a DVD copy of the session.
Please inquire about rates and availability. These sessions are open to both males and females of any age.
AMHD is available to attend team practices to put the goalies through a comprehensive training session on one end of
the ice while the coach works with the skaters at the other end. We will either work to overcome specific problems
that the team’s goalies may be having or we will implement a defined training system. Upon request, AMHD can provide
ongoing training and support for team goalies or individual goalies. This system would include a variety of components
to monitor a goalie’s development, including on-ice training, off-ice training, video, mental exercises and mentoring,
to name a few. Please inquire about rates and availability.
An AMHD instructor can be hired to attend a team game or practice and video tape the event. Once completed, a consultation
will be scheduled to review the DVD copy. A detailed analysis will be given to the goalie(s) during the consultation,
and they will be able to keep the DVD copy for their reference.
